President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Prof. Idris Bugaje as the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday in Abuja.
The renewal grants Mr Bugaje a second and final term of five years following the expiration of his initial tenure.
Mr Bugaje was first appointed as Executive Secretary of NBTE on March 14, 2021, for an initial term of five years.
Tinubu approved the renewal after reviewing Bugaje’s performance, leadership record, and contributions to the transformation of the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sub-sector.
Mr Onanuga noted that significant progress had been recorded in repositioning Nigeria’s TVET ecosystem under Bugaje’s leadership.

He said the NBTE had undertaken comprehensive curriculum modernisation to align technical education with global skills requirements.
According to Mr Onanuga, the board also developed and reviewed about 100 national curricula in line with evolving industry and labour market demands.
He said that the reforms were in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the education sector.
Tinubu urged Mr Bugaje to consolidate ongoing reforms and ensure the completion of critical initiatives already underway.
The president expressed confidence that the second term would further strengthen technical education and skills development across the country.
The renewal is expected to sustain momentum in enhancing Nigeria’s capacity for workforce development and industrial growth.
