Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced that the Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to strengthen security across the state.
The governor made this known on Thursday in Jos while expressing appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visit and intervention in addressing the state’s security challenges.
According to Mutfwang, the recruitment of forest guards is part of broader measures aimed at tackling insecurity, particularly in rural communities and forested areas where criminal elements often operate. He also disclosed that the state would benefit from the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to further enhance surveillance and improve response to security threats.

President Tinubu arrived in Jos on Thursday evening for what officials described as a brief but impactful visit, during which he engaged religious, political and community leaders on the security situation in the state.
During the visit, the President also met with about 15 victims of the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, including Madame Rhoda Favor Ayuba, who lost her son in the incident. The meeting formed part of efforts to sympathise with affected families and reaffirm the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace in the state.
The latest security interventions are expected to complement ongoing efforts by security agencies and community stakeholders to stabilise Plateau and prevent further attacks.
