In a recent video on ABC Tv, Chief National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin provided a detailed update on recent U.S. military operations over Iran, highlighting both past incidents and ongoing threats.
“You will remember there were three F-15Es shot down by friendly fire by an overzealous Kuwait pilot who mistook them for incoming,” Griffin explained. “The pilots survived and managed to eject safely and at least one of those pilots was back in the fight flying missions over Iran.” Her account underscores the risks faced by U.S. pilots operating in complex airspace and the resilience of aircrew in high-stakes situations.

Griffin also addressed the ongoing challenge posed by Iran’s missile capabilities. “In terms of ballistic missiles surviving, a lot of launchers have been destroyed, but we learned minutes ago that three waves of ballistic missiles were fired toward northern Israel by Iran,” she said. Griffin emphasized that “the mobile missile launchers are very hard to find and hidden often in underground tunnels built over the last 20 years,” highlighting the sophistication of Iran’s military infrastructure.
Her reporting provides context for the difficulties faced by U.S. and allied forces attempting to neutralize Iran’s strategic weapons. While airstrikes have achieved measurable results, the persistence of mobile missile launchers and the complex geography of underground tunnels continue to pose significant challenges.
Griffin’s insights reinforce the reality that, even with advanced intelligence and airpower, operational risks remain high. The combination of pilot skill, careful planning, and awareness of Iran’s defensive measures is critical to maintaining U.S. strategic objectives in the region.
