A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Segun Sowunmi, openly and candidly expressed to Seun Okinbaloye, during the interview, his clear dislike for the particular style of interviewing employed by Oseni Rufai of Arise Television, making it known that he does not appreciate the way interviews are conducted by him.
Speaking during an interview on Mic On Podcast, Sowunmi explained that while he does not generalise his views about individuals based on their affiliations, he finds certain journalistic approaches irritating. He also recounted a recent engagement with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, noting that the interaction challenged some of his preconceived notions. According to him, the conversation was insightful and left him acknowledging that there are still individuals within opposing political camps whose perspectives he respects.
According to him, “Maybe our problem is that we need to stop tarring everybody with the colours of the imaginations we have against their party. Because like saying that, ‘Oh, I hate journalists and therefore when I see Seun, I must hate Seun.’ I may not like some of them like your junior brother, I don’t know who is older. The guy on Arise that just says, ‘I put it to you, I put it,’ and just gets on people’s nerves—he’s an interviewer, that’s his own style.”
