Former Jigawa Senator Nakudu Defects to ADC, Joins Guber Race

Among those who joined Nakudu in the defection are Bala Ibrahim Chamo, a former Chairman of Dutse Local Government during the administration of former Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and Zakari Kafin Hausa, who previously served as Special Adviser to Governor Malam Umar Namadi.

Others who recently resigned from the APC include former Chairman of Gwaram LGA, Zahraddeen Abubakar, and Ex-Chairman of Ringim LGA, Shehu Sule Udi.

Speaking during the declaration, Nakudu said the decision to leave the APC was driven by the need to pursue a more inclusive political platform that prioritises grassroots development and internal democracy.

He expressed confidence that the ADC offers a viable alternative capable of addressing the challenges facing Jigawa State.

The former lawmaker also used the occasion to formally declare his intention to contest for the governorship seat in the 2027 general elections under the ADC platform.

“Our decision is borne out of deep reflection and consultation with our supporters. We believe the ADC provides a credible platform to actualize our vision for a better Jigawa,” Nakudu stated.

The movement of key figures from the APC to the ADC is also expected to intensify political competition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Efforts to get official reaction from the APC leadership in the state were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
