Iran has reportedly rejected a new ceasefire plans that would have meant reopening the Strait of Hormuz in return for a “temporary ceasefire”.

The decision comes after Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants and bridges if they fail to reopen the Strait by Tuesday at 8pm ET (1am BST on Wednesday).

An unnamed Iranian official has reportedly said Tehran does not believe that Washington is ready for a permanent ceasefire, however, and will not accept being pressured to accept deadlines and make a decision
