Senator Ishaku Abbo (SIA) claims to have a comprehensive strategy to reduce petrol prices in Nigeria from the current over N1000 pper litre to N480 in just 5 months that’s by February 2025 thereof to bring relief to citizens battered by the high cost of living. Abbo’s proposal pledges to decrease petrol prices to N480 per liter by February 2025 and N250 per liter by February 2026.
The senator’s move comes on the heels of the recent national grid collapse, which plunged the North into darkness for almost two weeks. Abbo criticized successive Adamawa government’s for their inability to collaborate with the federal government to upgrade Kiri dam in Shelleng LGA into a electricity generation dam that will generate at least 35 Mega Watts of electricity to Adamawa state and its environs using the embedded generation model where power generated will directly go to the state without shedding it to the national grid.
“People are suffering, people are dying of hunger every day, and crime is on the rise due to poverty and a lack of legitimate job opportunities, especially for the youth,” Abbo said. “My heart bleeds when I see people roaming to find food unsuccessfully for their families.”
In a similar vein, Senator Abbo has extended a helping hand to President Tinubu, offering to share his strategy document to tackle the high cost of fuel with its attended high inflation and hard times for citizenry. Senator Abbo said his strategy will reduce Petrol prizes to N480 per litre by end of February 2025 and further reduce it to N250 per litre by end of February 2026.
The outspoken Senator who represented Adamawa North in the 9th and the beginning of 10th Senate sai his latest initiative focuses on addressing a pressing national issue devoid of any personal gains. The proposal warrants attention, but implementation will be key to tackling Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The success of Abbo’s plan if well Implemented will no doubt bring ease to Nigerian citizens and write President Tinubu name in Gold as the President that finally solved Nigeria’s perennial energy crises.
