A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of $2.04 million, seven properties, and shares linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele. Justice Akintayo Aluko delivered the verdict, directing that the assets be seized by the federal government.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed the application for forfeiture, arguing that the assets were linked to Emefiele. This development marks a significant milestone in the EFCC’s efforts to combat corruption and recover illicitly acquired assets.
