Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola held its 15th combined convocation ceremony, awarding National Certificate in Education (NCE) to 15,139 graduands. This milestone event was part of a triple celebration, marking the college’s 50th anniversary and hosting the Nigerian College of Education Games (NICEGA), now known as NICOGA.
Provost Mohammed Usman Degereji highlighted his administration’s achievements, including establishing a student hub for easy access to academic records, providing free bus services, distributing food palliatives, and rehabilitating the college clinic. He thanked the federal and state governments, TETFUND, staff, and students for their support.
Minister of Education Tunji Alausa, represented by Dr. Yusuf Saeed, commended the college’s progress and pledged to support its upgrade. He emphasized the federal government’s commitment to enhancing education through initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NEL FUND) and TETFUND legislation amendments.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, lauded the college’s successes and the provost’s leadership. He noted the state’s robust synergy with FCE Yola and other tertiary institutions, citing policies like scholarship awards, school transportation, and infrastructure development.

The event showcased FCE Yola’s growth and dedication to quality education. As one of the oldest colleges of education in the North East, its upgrade will further boost educational development in the region.
