Mr. Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has been elected as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Chapter.

Akinsanya was the only candidate in the election held at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat located along the Osogbo/Ikirun road in Osun State on Saturday. Delegates from the four Southwest states—Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti—participated in the voting process.

The election took place during the Union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference and was overseen by acting National President Aliyu Issa-Ore. In his address, Issa-Ore clarified that the Union’s Constitution allows the zone eligible to fill the national president’s position to elect its preferred candidate for presentation to the national body.

I have forgiven everyone who has wronged me, and I hope those I have offended will also forgive me

Adedamola Salam, the Head of Finance from the National Headquarters in Abuja, confirmed that the South-West zone followed the constitutional procedures in electing MC Oluomo as President.

Additionally, delegates elected Tajudeen Agbede as Vice President for the Southwest and Akeem Adeosun as a trustee from the zone.

After taking the oath of office, MC Oluomo called on union members to prioritize peace and unity within the organization. “I have forgiven everyone who has wronged me, and I hope those I have offended will also forgive me. This is our union, and we must work together to preserve it. We will not allow anyone to jeopardize our livelihoods,” he stated.
