In a heartfelt appeal to the future leaders of tomorrow, students of Government Secondary School Hong (GSS Hong) have been called upon to fully embrace and utilize the school’s newly renovated and state-of-the-art science laboratories. This call was made during a recent prize-giving ceremony hosted by the GSSS Hong Old Students Association, Class of ’86.

On November 8, 2024, at the college assembly hall, the president of the association, Engr. Linus A. Agwanda, represented by Mal. Ibrahim Abdu, emphasized the importance of leveraging these modern facilities for academic advancement. “The renovated science laboratories will provide students with hands-on experience in scientific exploration and discovery,” Agwanda stated. “By utilizing these resources, students can build a robust foundation in science and technology, which is crucial in today’s rapidly evolving society.”

The ceremony recognized outstanding academic achievements among students, with a special focus on excellence in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Notable awards were given to twelve exceptional students; Head Boy Bethuel Hosea was celebrated as the overall best student in Mathematics and Physics, while Deputy Head Girl Elizabeth Dimas excelled as the top student in Biology.

In addition to star accomplishments in the senior class, other awards highlighted the talents of students from SS 1 and SS 2, showcasing a commitment to fostering academic brilliance at every level of the school.

Mr. Wandiya Dzarma, Vice Principal (Academic), expressed his gratitude to the Class of ’86 for their continued support of GSS Hong. He encouraged the alumni group to persist in their generosity, ensuring that future students also benefit from enhanced educational resources.
