Ruling Class Want Us To Believe 2027 Results Has Been Written With Attempt To Decimate Parties—Itodo

According to a report by Leadership, on Sunday April 12, 2026, the Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, Samson Itodo, has raised concerns about growing public perception around Nigeria’s future elections, stating that there is a rising belief among some political actors that the outcome of the 2027 elections has already been decided.

‎He explained that this belief is being promoted at a time when efforts are allegedly being made to weaken opposition voices, according to him, such developments can discourage public confidence in the democratic process if not addressed.

‎Itodo warned that the system requires strong pressure from citizens to remain accountable, he said this pressure should not only come through protests but through active civic engagement and proper preparation ahead of elections.

‎He stressed that citizens must stay involved in political processes and not assume that change will happen automatically and added that engagement should begin long before election periods, not just during campaigns or voting.

‎According to him, Nigeria must first function effectively as a country before it can have credible elections and noted that without a stable and functional national system, the electoral process itself could be at risk.

‎He urged Nigerians to remain alert and active in defending democratic values, he said citizens must push back against actions that weaken political competition and reduce trust in the electoral system.

‎Itodo stated that sustained citizen involvement is necessary to protect the country’s democratic future and ensure that elections remain meaningful and credible.

‎”Today, building up to the next elections, the politicians want us to believe and the ruling class want us to believe that the 2027 elections result has been written with every attempt to decimate the opposition parties,” he said.
