As Nigerians draw closer to the 2027 election year, aspirants for various positions have started declaring their intentions for elective positions.
One of them is Segun Tomori, the immediate past special assistant on media to the minister of solid minerals, Dr Dele Alake, who is vying to represent the people of Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, Lagos at the House of Representatives in 2027.
In a statement on Sunday, the ex-media aide said he joined active politics in 2010 and having read about the exploits of then Senator Bola Tinubu, Pa Anthony Enahoro, Dan Suleiman, Dele Alake and a host of others in their travails through the military years to restore democracy using the pro-democracy movement, National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and having worked closely with two House of Representatives lawmakers in the past and most recently with Dr Alake, he felt the time has come to throw his hat into the ring.

“I made a deliberate decision to join Asiwaju Tinubu’s political family, the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), despite the fact that it was in opposition at the time.
“I was motivated by the progressive bent of the party, coupled with the fact that its leading lights stood to be counted in the June 12 struggle. The party later became one of the legacy parties that formed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Accordingly, I hereby formally declare my aspiration to contest for the House of Representatives to represent the good people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Lagos, under the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.
He said his manifesto is anchored on community health outreach, support for women and vulnerable families, generation next (youth & sports talent development), education and schools intervention programme, light up Oshodi-Isolo constituency II amongst other people- centered initiatives.
He said, “There is much work to be done through purposeful legislation—not only to improve the welfare of our constituents but also the lives of the average Nigerian, even as it contributes meaningfully to national development.
“I bring to this race the dynamism of youth, fresh ideas and a proven ability to build consensus and deliver results in complement to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”
Not too long ago, President Tinubu gave a matching order to all political appointees willing to contest elective positions to leave the cabinet before March 30, 2026.
