Gunmen Kill Lodger In Ogun Hotel

One Gideon Ebukwe has been reportedly killed by unidentified assailants at Ok Winners Hotel, located in Igbosoro, Igode, within the Sagamu Local Government area of the state.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the sad incident in a statement released in Abeokuta, noting that Ebukwe was fatally shot while attempting to flee from the gunmen who invaded the hotel where he was staying.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, noted that despite Ebukwe’s efforts to escape through the ceiling of the hotel, the assailants managed to locate him, resulting in his death, and subsequently stole his possessions.

The public relations officer noted that at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Chairman of the Community Development Committee, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported the incident, which is being treated as a suspected assassination.

She said: “He said that a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown.

“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.

“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.

“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo.

The police public relations officer announced that an investigation has been initiated to determine the nature of the crime and whether it is associated with cult activities.

She further stated that the case would be forwarded to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more thorough investigation.
