The Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Mustapha Abdullahi, has said the Lagos State Electricity Bill signed into law was in line with the government’s commitment to the nation’s electricity issues.
The Chief Executive Officer of ECN, Abdullahi, said that by harnessing diverse energy solutions to drive sustainability the country would address energy challenges in economic development.
Abdullahi, who stated this on Tuesday, in a statement, commended that the law promoted harnessing renewable energy and other energy sources.
“I wish to especially commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for signing the Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 into law. This milestone marks a significant step toward Nigeria’s energy diversification goals. The legislation promotes diverse energy sources, including renewable energy, while encouraging energy efficiency, investment, competition, and innovation in the electricity sector.
“I am pleased to see that this law aligns perfectly with our vision of leveraging diverse energy solutions to drive sustainability, and economic growth across the country. This forward-looking initiative demonstrates our shared commitment to harnessing renewable resources and other energy alternatives to secure a brighter and sustainable future for Nigeria.
“The Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to providing reliable, affordable, and uninterrupted power supply to Lagos residents. I am excited to envisage the positive impact this will have on the state’s economy and the lives of its citizens,” Abdullahi said.
