Manchester United have confirmed that their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, set to take place this Saturday, will proceed as planned, despite the looming threat posed by Storm Darragh, which is expected to affect various parts of the UK.
The situation remains critical, with the early kick-off match between local rivals Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park having already been canceled due to dangerous weather conditions.
Strong winds reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour have been forecasted for the area, prompting officials to prioritize safety and call off the game.
In addition to the Everton versus Liverpool match, several other football fixtures across the UK have also faced postponements. This includes games in the Championship, League One, and League Two, as well as all scheduled matches in Wales, further illustrating the widespread impact of the storm on the football calendar.
However, Manchester United remains optimistic that their match in the late kick-off slot will be able to go on as scheduled.
In their official statement, the club expressed, “Today’s Premier League fixture at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest is currently set to take place as planned.”
They also reassured fans, “The club will continue to consult with the relevant authorities throughout the day and will provide immediate updates to supporters if there are any changes to the situation.”
As fans prepare for the match which will kick off at 18:30 later today, December 7, they are encouraged to stay tuned for any further announcements and to prioritize their safety during the stormy weather conditions.
