Fenerbahce’s head coach, Jose Mourinho, has made it clear that he has no intention of signing Cristiano Ronaldo for the Turkish club.
Jose Mourinho said he is satisfied with the strikers currently on his roster, emphasizing that he does not see the need to bring in another player, even one as celebrated as Ronaldo.
Turkish media outlets had speculated about a potential transfer for Ronaldo from his current club, Al Nassr, to Fenerbahce, fueling excitement among fans and pundits alike.
However, Mourinho swiftly dispelled these rumors, stating during an interview with O Jogo: “Cristiano Ronaldo will not come to Fenerbahce. The first reason is that I am content with the three excellent forwards I already have in my squad. I don’t want to disrupt our chemistry by adding another forward.”
He acknowledged Ronaldo’s legendary status, saying, “Cristiano will always be Cristiano,” yet reiterated his decision, asserting that he is pleased with the talent at his disposal.
Mourinho also pointed out the financial security Ronaldo enjoys in Saudi Arabia, where he reportedly earns a substantial income, and noted that the Portuguese superstar has set an ambitious goal of scoring 1,000 career goals.
Mourinho went on to ponder what could entice Ronaldo to make a move to Turkey, aside from the allure of Istanbul’s beauty. He said, “What could truly motivate him to come here? The question needs to be asked.”
Furthermore, Mourinho shared his reservations about the January transfer window, explaining, “I’m not a fan of making moves in January because any new player requires time to adapt to the team and its dynamics.
“While I never completely rule out the possibility of a transfer, I’m not one to proactively seek them out. I don’t knock on the doors of Ali Bey or Acun Bey to demand signings.”
