A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has revealed that he does not agree with the political methodology deployed by members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

He, however, disclosed that he has a different view of respect for the leader of the movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Sowunmi, while speaking on Sunday during a Channels Television interview, accused the Kwankwasiyya movement of excessive militancy and instigating its supporters.

”I have a different view of my respect for Rabiu Kwankwaso, but that excessive militancy is crazy…Democracy is an ideological conversation, not instigating young people to be acting as if they want to go into a mob fight,’‘ he said.

Sowunmi made the submission when he was asked about the possibility that Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, or any other political godfather would be bankrolling his alternative movement.

In denying any such sponsorship, the PDP chieftain disclosed he is funding the movement, and he expects that at some point, members of the team would chip in something.

The party criticized the lawmakers for retaining their parliamentary positions after switching allegiance to the ruling party.

His statement follows the defection of the lawmakers, whose letters of resignation were read by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on Thursday.
