Atsi Kefas, the younger sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, has died four days after being shot by armed robbers.

Atsi, aged 44, succumbed to her injuries on Monday night at a private hospital in Abuja, where she was receiving treatment following the attack.

Last Thursday, suspected bandits attacked a vehicle carrying the governor’s mother, Jummai Kefas, and Atsi along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area.

Atsi sustained gunshot wounds during the incident and was initially treated at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, before being transferred to Abuja for specialized care.

Recall that the chairman of the Wukari council, Dauda Samaila Agbu, confirmed the attack to newsmen and expressed his sorrow regarding the event.

He characterized the situation as “deeply troubling” and revealed that Atsi Kefas suffered a gunshot injury during the assault, necessitating her initial treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari before being transferred to Abuja for further medical care.

While the state government and the Kefas family have not officially confirmed her death, a reliable family source told Premium Times on Tuesday morning that Atsi passed away Monday night.

News of her passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with many well-wishers posting condolence messages.
