PSC Approves Promotion Of 27 AIGs, Police Commissioners

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of 27 senior police officials across states.

Naija News reports that those to be promoted include 11 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and the promotion of 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police to full Commissioners of Police.

In a statement issued on Monday by the PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, it was indicated that the officers who received promotions participated in both written and oral assessments at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters on Monday, December 16, 2024.

The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, highlighted that the completion of written and oral examinations will now be an essential requirement for promotions within all levels of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Honorable Commissioner and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Promotions, DIG Taiwo Lakanu, oversaw the oral interviews.

He encouraged the officers to meet the expectations of their new positions and reassured them that the Commission is committed to ensuring that promotions are conducted in a timely and meritocratic manner.

The PSC plenary session is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

The 11 Commissioners of Police promoted to the rank of AIGs are:

  1. Umar Shehu Nadada – Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State
  2. Mustapha Mohammed Bala – Commissioner of Police, Rivers State
  3. Abayomi Peter Oladipo – Commissioner of Police, Ondo State
  4. Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke – Commissioner of Police, SWAT, FCID, Abuja
  5. Ibrahim Abdullahi – Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State
  6. Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka – Commissioner of Police, PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters, Abuja
  7. Akinwale Kunle Adeniran – Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State
  8. Zubairu Abubakar – Commissioner of Police, Police Staff College, Jos
  9. Fom Pam Joseph – Commissioner of Police, Homicide, FCID Abuja
  10. Emuobo Fred Ekokotu – Commissioner of Police, Admin, Airwing, Abuja
  11. Garba Musa Yusuf – Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos

  5. Martin Nwogoh – Deputy Commissioner, DFA, Zone 2, Lagos
  6. Shetima Jauro Mohammed – Deputy Commissioner, SCID, Nasarawa State
