Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has shared his insights on the upcoming Premier League fixtures scheduled for the weekend before Christmas.
Among the Premier League matches, one that stands out is Liverpool’s highly-anticipated trip to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, promising to be a thrilling encounter between two attacking sides.
Shearer provided his predictions on several key clashes, beginning with the match between Aston Villa and Manchester City.
He highlighted Villa’s formidable home advantage, stating, “Aston Villa vs. Man City – Villa is a strong team, especially when their passionate crowd is fully behind them.
“They play with flair and aggression, making them difficult to beat, particularly when they’re on the offensive. Given their capabilities, I’m leaning towards a draw for this match.”
Next up is the clash between Crystal Palace and Arsenal. Shearer acknowledged the challenge this match presents for Arsenal, remarking, “Crystal Palace v Arsenal – This will be a tough test for Arsenal, but I believe they have the resilience to bounce back after their recent performances. I’m predicting an away win for Arsenal, yet it won’t come easy; Palace are known for their tenacity on home soil. Expect a very competitive game.”
Shearer then turned his attention to the encounter between Everton and Chelsea. He noted Chelsea’s strong form and status as title contenders, saying, “Everton v Chelsea – Chelsea currently occupies second place in the league standings, and with the form they’ve been showcasing, it’s clear they are in the title race.
“While they have a real chance, I still doubt their ability to clinch the Premier League trophy this season. My prediction is for Chelsea to emerge victorious in this matchup.”
When discussing the game involving Manchester United and Bournemouth, Shearer suggested a closely contested affair. He commented, “Man United vs. Bournemouth – Analyzing this weekend’s matchup, I foresee a draw. Bournemouth has shown they can be competitive and I believe they’ll manage to take something from this game against United.”
Lastly, in the highly-anticipated fixture of Spurs Vs Liverpool, Shearer expressed confidence in Liverpool’s attacking prowess. He stated, “Spurs v Liverpool – I believe Liverpool will secure a win in this match, although we can expect plenty of action and goals. With both teams likely to adopt an offensive approach, I see Liverpool edging it in what should be a fantastic game to watch.”
