Manchester United are reportedly ready to invest £63.3 million in a bid to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli during the upcoming January transfer window.

Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, is determined to find solutions to his team’s ongoing goalscoring difficulties, which have been evident throughout the current season.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Red Devils have already initiated discussions with Osimhen’s representatives, positioning themselves as frontrunners to acquire the talented forward.

Despite interest from other prominent clubs, notably Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, United appear to be making significant headway in their pursuit of the player.

Currently, Manchester United’s offensive struggles are glaringly apparent. The team has managed to score only 21 goals in all competitions this season; this figure ranks them among the lowest scorers in the Premier League, with just four teams having netted fewer goals.

To facilitate a potential transfer, the club would also need to negotiate an additional payment to Galatasaray, where Osimhen is currently on a season-long loan, to terminate the agreement.

However, Osimhen himself has publicly committed to remaining with Galatasaray until the conclusion of the season.

Following a standout performance in which he scored twice in a thrilling 3-2 victory against Tottenham, he remarked, “I will not leave in January; I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are discussing regarding my future, but if they come to speak with me, I will listen. Galatasaray is a wonderful club that I truly appreciate.”

Since joining Galatasaray in September, the Super Eagles star has been in remarkable form, racking up an impressive total of 12 goals and providing five assists in just 15 appearances across all competitions.

His standout performances have not gone unnoticed, making him a highly sought-after player in the transfer market.

While Napoli’s release clause for Osimhen is reported to be set at £75 million, sources indicate that they might consider a lower offer of £63.3 million in January, a figure that would still be a considerable investment for any club.

Former Galatasaray coach Hamza Hamzaoğlu weighed in on the situation, expressing scepticism about the Turkish club’s ability to make a permanent signing.

“It is difficult for Galatasaray to buy Victor Osimhen. I can confidently say that they cannot,” he stated in an interview with habersarikirmizi.com. “Galatasaray might be able to go up to a certain point in financial terms, but beyond that, it could pose challenges. Financial costs must be kept in mind.”

Amidst these developments, Manchester United have had a tumultuous start to the season, most recently suffering back-to-back defeats to Bournemouth and Wolves. The club currently find themselves languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, sitting perilously close to the relegation zone and far removed from the top four spots.
