FRESH TENSION IN MIDDLE EAST — Tens of Thousands March Through East Jerusalem as Palestinians Barricade Homes

According to the Middle East Monitor, as tens of thousands of Israeli nationalists poured into occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday for the annual “Jerusalem Day” march, large parts of the Old City fell silent behind locked doors and shuttered storefronts. Palestinian families stayed indoors, many fearing the violence that has increasingly come to define the event.

What Israeli authorities describe as a celebration of the city’s “reunification” unfolded, once again, as a day of intimidation for many Palestinian residents.
