ASP Timfon John, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed in a statement on Monday that operatives also neutralized one suspected kidnapper and are actively pursuing others who fled the scene. The rescue operation followed actionable intelligence received on June 22, 2024, regarding the whereabouts of the victim, identified as ‘M’, who was abducted on June 17, 2024, by four armed individuals disguised in military attire.
Upon encountering the kidnappers, a gunfight ensued, resulting in one of them sustaining fatal injuries while the rest escaped. The deceased suspect was subsequently pronounced dead at a local hospital. The rescued victim was found unharmed at a residence in Ikot Udobong Village, Etim Ekpo LGA. Initial investigations revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded N50 million ransom, which later reduced to N20 million, although no ransom was paid before the successful rescue.
The command’s spokesperson emphasized the commitment of Commissioner Waheed Ayilara to eliminating crime in the state and urged the public to report any suspicious activities promptly to the police via emergency lines 09040000065 or 08020913810, or by visiting the nearest police station.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
