Sachets and bottled waters are gotten from borehole water and sterilized. A bag of pure water is now expensive, and some people have opted for rainwater because it’s the rainy season.
You may have heard some people say that they prefer drinking rainwater because it has better health benefits than other types of water. This is not medically proven. However, there are a few things you need to know before deciding to start drinking rainwater.
1. According to Healthline, rainwater is not dangerous to your health if you follow the safe procedure of collecting it. Some local areas in the country have rainwater as the safest source of drinkable water.
You need to be aware of some environmental conditions that can contaminate the rainwater you are collecting. Ensure that the environment is not dirty and that the rain is not dropping on dirty objects before collecting them.
2. After it begins to rain, allow the rain to fall for about five minutes before placing your containers in the rain. This is important if you are collecting it from the housetop.
Ensure that your water containers are placed high above the ground to avoid dirty particles entering them.
3. Boil the water to kill any germs that may be in it and sieve out the heavy metals in it before drinking.
If you don’t have the means of doing this, don’t ever drink rainwater directly without purifying it, as it can be dangerous to your health.
