Lakurawa fighters have reportedly attacked charcoal and firewood producers in the outskirts of Mai-Kurhuna village, Kebbe Forest area of Kebbe LGA, Sokoto State.
The development was disclosed on Thursday by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist who reports on insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.
According to the report, the incident resulted in civilian fatalities, destruction of trucks and motorcycles and the loss of livelihoods.
Bakatsine said survivors fled the forest and were appealing for immediate security intervention to prevent further attacks.
He wrote: “SAD NEWS: Lakurawa fighters reportedly attacked charcoal and firewood producers in the outskirts of Mai-Kurhuna village, Kebbe Forest area of Kebbe LGA, Sokoto State. The incident resulted in civilian fatalities, the destruction of trucks and motorcycles and the loss of livelihoods. Survivors fled the forest and are appealing for immediate security intervention to prevent further attacks and restore safety to the area.
