SaharaReporters gathered that the abductors have since re-established contact with the family, demanding an additional ₦14 million alongside two Bajaj motorcycles as fresh conditions for his release.

According to a local platform, Egbe Mekun, Dada Babatege was kidnapped on the afternoon of December 12, 2025, from his farm located behind St. Kizito’s College in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was killed on Sunday night when suspected terrorists attacked a police position at Obajana, Kogi State, where security operatives were stationed at the Dangote Cement Factory.

Security sources told SaharaReporters on Monday that the attackers stormed the area late Sunday night in large numbers.

According to the sources, the attack was believed to be a reprisal following a recent military operation in which over 200 terrorists were reportedly killed in the area.

“We lost one CJTF during the attack. There was no police casualty and no arms were lost,” one of the sources said.

The source explained that the terrorists attempted to overrun the police position but were successfully repelled by security forces.

“They came in their numbers all hooded to avenge the heavy blow they suffered where over 200 of them were killed,” the source added.

“They were successfully repelled and still suffered heavy blow even as they evacuated their corpses.”

Another source confirmed that the troops stationed at the Dangote Cement Factory held their ground throughout the assault, forcing the attackers to retreat after sustaining further casualties.

“Last night some terrorists attacked police position at Obajana. The troops were stationed at Dangote’s Cement factory at Obajana,” the source reiterated.
