Miguel Ángel Gamondi, Argentine coach of Tanzania, has said the Super Eagles of Nigeria are the best team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria beat Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in the group stage. Then, in the knockout rounds, they defeated Mozambique and Algeria to reach the semifinals.
The Super Eagles have scored 14 goals, which is more than any other team in the competition, and they have also improved their defense by keeping clean sheets in every game during the knockout stage.
Gamondi said the Super Eagles are the most powerful team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
He noted that their good mix of players, steady performance, and strong attacking skills are the main reasons they are successful.
The Argentine coach said the last four teams in the competition really earned their spots, pointing out that right now, the difference between winning and losing is just a tiny margin.
Gamondi told Egyptian broadcaster On Sport, “It’s obvious that the semi-finals include the four best teams, and each of them has a chance to win.
“At this point in the competition, the small things and the skill of the players make all the difference.
The coach, 59, gave Nigeria extra praise, noting how well they manage the game on both sides of the field.
“Each of the four teams has a player who can change the outcome of a single play. Right now, I think Nigeria is the strongest team because they usually score a lot of goals and let in few goals.
“They look really strong, but as I said, I think these are the four best teams in Africa right now.
A win for Nigeria against Morocco would mean that that the Super Eagles have the final of the AFCON for a second successive tournament.
