Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has condoled with former deputy governor, Mrs.Titi Laoye-Ponle, following the death of her husband, Chief Tunde Ponle.

He described the loss as deeply painful and irreparable.

The Monday statement was signed by the Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Olawale Rasheed.

PUNCH Online reports that Laoye-Ponle served as a deputy to ex-Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola between 2010-2018.

In the statement titled, “Governor Adeleke Mourns Tunde Ponle, Calls It ‘Exit Of A Giant’,” the governor said the late industrialist’s demise was a major blow to Osun State and beyond, citing his enduring contributions to economic growth and social development.

Adeleke commiserated with the immediate and extended family, associates and admirers of the MicCom Cables and Wires CEO, noting that his life was marked by service and impact.

According to the statement, “I’m visibly shaken to learn about the passing of Chief (Prince) Tunde Laoye.

“While alive, Prince Ponle was a model of a good citizen, contributing not just his intellect but his God-given ability to solve some of the society’s challenges,” Adeleke said.

The governor also highlighted the late Ponle’s philanthropic footprints across the state, stating: “Aside from the economic benefits that his multi-million MicCom-golf recreation centre drives for Ada, Prince Ponle’s generosity was felt at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), where his multi-million building and the MicCom Cancer Centre donations continue to serve the institution.

“His passing, though at 94 years, is devastating, and this is because Osun has lost one of its best.”

Adeleke added: “On behalf of the Government and the people of Osun State, I express my heartfelt condolences to Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Titi Laoye-Ponle, children, family and everyone touched by the passing of Prince Ponle.”

He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for strength for the family to bear the loss.
