Ademola Adeleke Eyes Second Term, Promises More Development in Osun State

According to report by The Nation News on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has declared his intention to seek a second term in office as preparations begin for the 2026 governorship election.

The governor stated that his administration’s performance in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, and social programmes has earned him the right to request another mandate from the people.

Adeleke made this statement on Wednesday while hosting members of the Ansarudeen Society at the Government House Banquet Hall in Oke-Fia, Osogbo.

During the meeting, he explained that the policy direction that guided his 2022 campaign would be expanded and improved ahead of the next election.

According to him, the revised agenda will strengthen empowerment programmes for youths, women, and workers while sustaining ongoing infrastructure projects across the state.

The governor also promised to broaden agro-industrial initiatives aimed at improving economic opportunities and encouraging shared prosperity among residents.

He added that his administration would continue working to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare and education, while also creating a business-friendly environment capable of generating more employment opportunities.

Adeleke maintained that his government had delivered on the promises made during the previous election.

He said his administration has followed due process in project execution, complied with procurement regulations, and ensured fairness in the distribution of infrastructure across different parts of the state.

He also stressed that governance decisions have been guided by the rule of law and prudent management of public funds.

Highlighting some achievements, the governor said his government had empowered cooperative groups with nearly ₦4 billion, supported community development associations through grassroots projects, and implemented the Imole Medical Outreach, which has benefited tens of thousands of residents.

He also noted initiatives aimed at reviving cocoa production through seedling distribution and support for new farmers, as well as the acquisition of tractors to aid agricultural activities.

Adeleke further stated that his administration had reduced the state’s debt by more than 40 percent and constructed over 350 kilometres of roads.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Osun State Council of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Akande Olakunle, praised the governor’s infrastructural efforts but appealed for support in rebuilding a mosque demolished during a road project in Iwo.

Adeleke assured the group that the government would collaborate with the society to facilitate the construction of a new mosque.
