The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially lost all representation in the Gombe State House of Assembly following the defection of its last remaining member, Yakubu Daniel (Shetiman Bare), to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daniel, who represents the Billiri East Constituency, formally crossed the aisle on Saturday, handing the APC a clean sweep of all 24 seats in the state legislature and completely eliminating the opposition’s voice in the House.
Receiving the lawmaker into the party’s fold on Saturday, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya hailed the defection as a major political milestone and a clear validation of his administration’s performance.

“For the last remaining opposition member in the Assembly to take this step speaks volumes about the direction we are taking in Gombe State,” Governor Yahaya declared.
The governor attributed the growing dominance of the APC in the state to his administration’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and effective service delivery.
He maintained that the mass exodus of opposition figures is a direct result of public trust in both the state’s leadership and the federal government’s initiatives.
“The overwhelming support we are witnessing is not by chance. It is a product of the trust the people have in what we are doing here in Gombe, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu at the national level,” Yahaya added.
