Fresh concerns have emerged over the internal nomination process of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as an aspirant for the position of Zonal Vice Chairman North East, Umar Jijiwa, alleged that the process favored incumbents through restricted access to forms.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Jijiwa responded to claims that nomination forms were reserved for preferred candidates.
Addressing the issue, he said, “Sir, let me make it easy for you.” He clarified, “It’s not about candidates that were favored, no.”
According to Umar Jijiwa, “It’s the people that are there that give form to themselves that going to continue there.” He added, “It’s not that there’s no one from outside that has been anointed, no. They anointed themselves.”
Explaining further, Umar Jijiwa stated, “What they mean is this. When you look at it, and they say, OK, we are zoning to this place, they don’t treat where they were from. That’s all right. There’s no problem there.” He continued, “We paid. But then you did not give us form. Why?”
Providing details, Umar Jijiwa alleged, “Because you only did one form and you gave it to the same person that is already there, that also has interest to stay there.”
Umar Jijiwa emphasized, “That is what happened. Not that there’s somebody anointed from outside.” Concluding, Jijiwa said, “It’s just the same team of people that want to continue. There’s no new person in there.”
