Benue Massacre: “They Even Slaughter Small Children; What Is The Bad Doings Of These Children?”— Resident

According to a report by Trust TV, on Wednesday March 11, 2026, the communities of Jata and Turan in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State have been plunged into mourning following a series of deadly attacks by armed men, suspected to be herders.

More than 16 people have been reported killed in the recent violence, which has seen homes destroyed and thousands of residents displaced from their ancestral lands.

The attacks have left survivors in a state of shock and despair, with many forced to hide in the bush or roam the streets as they flee the ongoing violence.

Survivors described scenes of unimaginable brutality, noting that the attackers made no distinction between armed men and the most vulnerable members of the community. One grieving resident spoke of the horrific sights in the aftermath of the raid.

“If you see women, olders, their children die, they slaughter even small children,” the resident shared in a heart-wrenching testimony. “What, what is the bad doing of these children and what is our wrongdoing?”
