According to a recent video by Church Gist, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has revealed that he once vowed never to come to Lagos for anything in his life, describing the decision as a moment when he was unknowingly resisting his destiny.
Speaking during a sermon, the clergyman reflected on how human pride can sometimes make people think they know better than God. According to him, some individuals become so confident in their abilities that they even attempt to advise God about the direction of their lives.
Oyedepo recalled that at a point in his life he boldly declared that he would never come to Lagos for anything, not realizing that he was unknowingly speaking against the very path God had prepared for him.
He explained that despite his personal disposition and strong assertions, God eventually directed him to Lagos, where his ministry later flourished.
The preacher used the experience to encourage believers to allow God to lead their lives. He warned that arrogance and stubbornness can keep people on the wrong path if they refuse to surrender to divine direction.
His Words: “ Someone can be so full of themselves that they even advise God. They would say, “God, can I tell you why I need to do this? This is my area of specialty. Everybody in the world knows me for that. I am just advising you.”
They would say, “When you are leading me, lead me in that way.” I once said I would never be in Lagos for anything in my life. I was vowing against destiny without knowing it.
But God said, “Arise, get down to Lagos with your head, and I will raise people for you,” against all my dispositions and all my assertions.
Allow God to lead you. Some people are on the wrong path, but they will not turn back because the arrogance in them will not allow them to.”
