The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has attributed the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party’s ability to provide a credible political platform.
Naija News reports that Morka made the remark on Arise Television’s morning show while reacting to the growing number of defections from the opposition party to the APC.
Taking a swipe at the PDP, Morka stated it can no longer effectively function as a political party due to its internal crisis.
Morka further dismissed concerns that Nigeria is becoming a one-party state, adding that defections to the APC should be seen as an endorsement of the ruling party.
He said, “The PDP is no longer able to call itself a political party. The PDP is incapable, by its own internal dysfunction, of offering its members any sensible, credible, smart, actionable platform to pursue their political aspirations.
“When people decamp to the APC, it is an endorsement of the party. It is a statement that the APC is able to offer what the opposition cannot offer, and that is not our fault.
“When people suggest that the country is turning into a one-party state, that is utterly mischievous because it does not take into account the history and realities of a democratic society like we have in Nigeria.”
