As reported by The Times of Israel on March 8, 2026, Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, urged the creation of a joint Arab force designed to safeguard the sovereignty of Arab states in response to Iran’s recent attacks on neighboring countries.
Speaking during an emergency session of the Arab League, chaired by the United Arab Emirates, Abdelatty emphasized the pressing need for collective security measures to confront regional threats and ensure the protection of national borders.
Highlighting the broader concept of Arab national security, Abdelatty called for the activation of coordinated frameworks that would enable member states to respond effectively to aggression. “The Foreign Minister noted the importance of activating the concept of Arab national security to preserve the security of Arab countries and protect their sovereignty,” the Egyptian foreign ministry reported, underlining the urgent focus on collaborative defense mechanisms.
The minister further stressed that these initiatives should include the establishment of a joint Arab force capable of countering existing threats efficiently. By advocating for structured cooperation, Egypt signaled a commitment to fortifying regional stability and uniting Arab nations against external pressures, ensuring their collective security and sovereignty remain uncompromised.
