BREAKING: Fear Grips Southern Kaduna as Bandits Kill Four, Including Couple and Son

According to the source, the attackers arrived in large numbers and opened fire on residents, leaving several others injured.

Bandits have killed four members of a family during a deadly overnight attack in Kachia town, Southern Kaduna.

Multiple sources told SaharaReporters that the attack occurred late Friday night in Kachia, near the newly established Federal University of Applied Science, the headquarters of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A member of the affected family confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Saturday, identifying the victims as Mr. Bitrus Bahago, his wife, Mrs. Justina Bitrus Bahago, their son, Ibrahim Bitrus Bahago, and another relative, Adam Waziri.

“They are all four killed by the bandits,” the family source said.

According to the source, the attackers arrived in large numbers and opened fire on residents, leaving several others injured.

However, the injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Residents of Kachia described the attack as terrifying, noting that the community has suffered repeated assaults by armed groups despite its proximity to major institutions and security formations.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Kaduna State Police Command on the incident.

Southern Kaduna has witnessed persistent attacks by bandits and gunmen in recent years, with residents repeatedly calling on the federal and state governments to strengthen security and protect vulnerable communities.

SaharaReporters previously reported that bandits struck in Bukkah community in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, resulting in the abduction of at least seven individuals.

A local government staff member confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, noting that the bandits attacked Bukkah village earlier in the day, kidnapping at least seven villagers.

The source reported that the assault began with intense gunfire, jolting the entire village awake.

Many residents fled into the surrounding forest for safety upon realising they were under attack.

According to the source, the difficult terrain and the fear of a potential ambush prevented security forces from mounting a swift response.

Those kidnapped from the Bukkah village have been identified as Mohammed Rufai, Sagiru Musa, Bala Usman, Aisha’atu Usman, Bilkisu Isiya, Sa’adiya Usman, and Wasila Usman.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that some bandits invaded Nissi community in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, kidnapping an Anglican priest and his wife.

A member of the Anglican Church of Nigeria confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, expressing frustration that the incident occurred while other media organisations had not reported the attack.

According to the source, the bandits abducted the priest, identified as Edwin Achi, and his wife, Sarah Achi, from their residence in Nissi village, located in the Chikun LGA.
