According to a report by Daily Post on March 26, 2026, Professor Imam Ahmad Maqary, a prominent Islamic scholar, has made a public appeal to Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the prolonged detention of individuals connected to an alleged coup plot in Nigeria.
Speaking in a Hausa-language video, Maqary voiced concern over delays in the investigative process, noting that some detainees—whom he considers innocent—have remained in custody for more than three months.
He pointed out that the arrests, which followed reports of a failed coup involving military personnel, appear to have largely affected people from Northern Nigeria.
