Former Governor of Edo State and current senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has rejected a viral image circulating on social media that purportedly shows him massaging a woman’s feet aboard a private jet, insisting that the picture is fabricated and likely generated using artificial intelligence technology.
The former labour leader made the clarification during an interview on News Central TV, where he addressed the controversy and described the photo as part of ongoing attempts to spread misleading narratives about him online.
Oshiomhole stated that the image is entirely false and does not reflect reality. According to him, the suggestion that he would be aboard a private jet in such circumstances is itself implausible, as he neither owns nor charters private aircraft. The senator explained that he typically travels using commercial airlines and is frequently seen at regular airport terminals alongside other passengers waiting to board flights.
To support his claim, he noted that past reports had highlighted a disagreement between him and Air Peace, adding that the incident itself demonstrates that he relies on regular airline services rather than private aviation.
The former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress said the circulation of controversial or negative stories about him is not new, pointing out that he has spent a large part of his life in public struggle and activism even before entering partisan politics.
Oshiomhole explained that because of his long history in labour movements and political advocacy, he has grown accustomed to criticism and attempts to tarnish his reputation. He argued that the viral image fits into a pattern of misinformation that often targets public figures.
Reflecting on his past experiences during Nigeria’s military era, Oshiomhole recalled that he once faced serious accusations despite having no involvement in the matters he was accused of. He said he was detained underground along Awolowo Way in Lagos and questioned by military authorities over allegations that he was connected to a coup plot.
According to him, the interrogation was carried out by a military officer who suspected him of involvement with elements within the armed forces, even though he had no ties to the military. The experience, he said, was one of several difficult moments he encountered during years of activism and opposition to military rule.
Despite such incidents, Oshiomhole maintained that he has consistently served the country with dedication and commitment. He stressed that manipulated images or false reports circulating online cannot erase his record of public service, labour activism, and political engagement.
The senator emphasized that people who are familiar with his lifestyle and history would easily recognize that the viral image lacks credibility.
