Avigdor Liberman, the chairman of Yisrael Beytenu, declares that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government remains completely incapable of securing a genuine victory for Israel over Iran or Hezbollah.
According to a report by The Times of Israel on March 16, 2026, he points out that the country has already spent two-and-a-half years in an ongoing conflict, yet every major front, against Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah, continues to stay active and unresolved.
Liberman argues that the administration, which he labels the October 7 government, keeps dragging Israel backward to the very beginning of the crisis instead of making meaningful progress.
He questions the much-promoted idea of absolute victory against Hamas, insisting that no such achievement exists on the ground.
He observes that the same empty claims of decisive success now appear in the northern arena as well, where fighting persists without clear resolution.
According to Liberman, Israel urgently needs to establish new and unambiguous war objectives.
He insists that the true goals must focus on overthrowing the regime in Iran and completely eliminating Hezbollah as a military threat.
In his view, the current leadership lacks both the strategy and the determination required to accomplish these essential aims.
He stresses that without a fundamental shift in direction and a realistic redefinition of what victory actually means, the nation will remain trapped in prolonged insecurity and repeated cycles of escalation.
Liberman expresses deep concern that the existing approach fails to address the root causes of the multi-front challenges Israel faces.
He believes the government’s inability to deliver results undermines national strength and emboldens adversaries who continue operating freely across multiple borders.
