According to a report by The Times Of Israel on March 3, 2026, US President Donald Trump said the public will soon learn how Washington intends to respond to the recent attack on the American embassy in Riyadh and the deaths of US service members amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Speaking to NewsNation, Trump indicated that a decision regarding retaliation had been made and that details would be revealed shortly. A reporter from the network shared the remarks on X, noting that the president addressed both the embassy strike and the fatalities involving American military personnel.
Saudi Arabia’s defense ministry confirmed that the US embassy in the capital was targeted by two drones. In a statement posted on X, the ministry said the preliminary assessment showed the attack caused a small fire and limited material damage. Authorities did not immediately report any casualties resulting from the incident.
The strike on the diplomatic mission comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions linked to the Iran conflict, which has already led to military casualties and escalating threats across the region. The attack in Riyadh has raised concerns about the potential for a broader confrontation involving US interests in the Middle East.
Despite the escalation, Trump signaled that a large-scale ground deployment inside Iran may not be required. According to NewsNation, he said he does not believe American boots on the ground will be necessary in Iran.
The president’s comments suggest that while a response is forthcoming, the administration may seek measures short of committing ground troops as it weighs its next steps following the embassy attack and the deaths of US personnel.
