The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, that certain policies and administrative decisions could hinder his chances of securing a second term in office.
In a statement issued through his media office, Ayodele warned that the governor’s current style of governance and policy direction may create political resistance capable of affecting his future electoral prospects if urgent adjustments are not made.
“Your policies will block your second term. Your activities and decisions, if not corrected, will stand against your second tenure,” Ayodele stated, stressing that leadership decisions taken early in an administration often determine political survival in subsequent elections.
According to the cleric, public perception, internal party unity, and grassroots acceptance remain critical factors for any governor seeking reelection. He advised the Edo State governor to reassess policies that may be unpopular among civil servants, youth groups, and political stakeholders within the state.
Ayodele further noted that governance requires continuous engagement with citizens, warning that dissatisfaction among key political actors could gradually weaken support ahead of future electoral contests. He urged the governor to strengthen relationships within his political structure and avoid actions capable of alienating loyal supporters.
The prophet also emphasized the importance of economic and social policies that directly impact residents, including job creation, infrastructure development, and welfare programmes. According to him, failure to address pressing public concerns could provide opposition parties with opportunities to mobilize against the incumbent administration.
He added that internal political disagreements, if left unresolved, might evolve into larger challenges capable of influencing party cohesion during election periods. Ayodele therefore encouraged dialogue, inclusiveness, and policy reforms aimed at restoring confidence among stakeholders.
While describing his message as a preventive warning rather than criticism, Ayodele maintained that leaders who respond early to public concerns often strengthen their political standing. He advised the governor to carefully review ongoing projects and governance strategies to ensure alignment with the expectations of Edo citizens.
Primate Ayodele has become known for issuing prophetic statements on political developments across Nigeria, frequently advising public office holders on governance and electoral matters.
As political activities gradually build toward future elections in Edo State, the cleric’s warning highlights growing discussions around performance, public approval, and the complex dynamics that shape second-term ambitions in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
