In a recent video on Facebook, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned that Nigeria’s political climate ahead of the 2027 general elections could be dominated by widespread public frustration driven by economic hardship.
Speaking during a recent address, the cleric said the mood of voters in the country may be shaped largely by hunger and anger if current economic conditions persist. According to him, the prevailing hardship facing many Nigerians could influence the tone and outcome of the next election cycle.
“See how 2027 is going to look like — hunger and anger. That is a vote. Vote of hunger and anger,” Ayodele said.
The prophet expressed concern that the growing economic pressure on citizens could translate into protest votes against the current administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“That is my fear for Tinubu. There may be manipulations, but on a free and fair election, anger and hunger is the tag of the election,” he stated.
Ayodele further claimed that public dissatisfaction with the government may intensify as the 2027 election approaches if urgent steps are not taken to address economic challenges affecting the population.
According to him, many Nigerians are already expressing resentment toward the current leadership, warning that political tensions could escalate if the situation is not carefully managed.
“And one thing they have not realized is that people hate him. They don’t want to hear anything about him. Only minority,” he said.
The cleric also predicted that political hostility could deepen to the point where supporters of the ruling party may face backlash from frustrated citizens.
“It will get to a point when you wear APC clothes, they will attack you,” Ayodele added.
