The Israeli military says it has carried out a major wave of airstrikes targeting critical Iranian military infrastructure in Tehran and other parts of central Iran as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), more than 80 fighter jets from the Israeli Air Force participated in the operation, striking several strategic locations linked to Iran’s military and missile programs.
The strikes were described by Israeli officials as part of an ongoing effort to weaken Iran’s capacity to launch attacks against Israel.
Among the sites targeted was the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Imam Hossein Military University in Tehran, a facility the Israeli military claims is used to train IRGC officers and coordinate operational activities. Israeli authorities say the complex also serves as an assembly point for various military units.
The IDF also reported striking ballistic missile storage facilities as well as underground command infrastructure believed to be used for coordinating missile operations. In addition, several launch sites located in western and central Iran — which Israeli officials say were positioned to fire missiles toward Israeli territory — were also targeted during the operation.
Israeli military sources stated that the strikes were designed to significantly degrade Iran’s missile capabilities and limit its ability to carry out attacks against Israeli civilian areas. According to the IDF, the targets were carefully selected based on intelligence assessments identifying infrastructure tied to missile deployment and command systems.
The latest strikes represent one of the largest Israeli air operations against Iran in recent days, highlighting the rapidly intensifying confrontation between the two longtime adversaries. Analysts say the scale of the attack suggests Israel is aiming to weaken Iran’s strategic military assets while attempting to deter further missile launches.
