BREAKING: Security Forces Neutralize Infamous Bandit, Recover Weapons After Miners’ Assault

Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised a suspected bandit linked to a recent attack on illegal miners in Plateau State and have recovered arms and ammunition during a raid on his hideout.

The operation was carried out by troops of 3 Division of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP).

The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the raid took place on January 8 at Yolan Gboka–Yama Da Lahdi area of Plateau State, following intelligence-led efforts to track those responsible for the December 16, 2025 attack on illegal miners at Tosho community in Fann District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

During the operation, troops reportedly came under fire after making contact with the bandits, leading to a gun battle.

“One of the bandits was neutralised during the exchange of fire and was later identified as Sadiq Isah, while others escaped,” the post said.

After securing the area, troops searched the hideout and recovered two AK-47 rifles and 162 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The recovered weapons have been taken into military custody, while troops have launched follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.
