[BREAKING] Seun Kuti Speaks Out: Why I Keep Criticizing Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Nigerian musician and activist Seun Kuti has explained why he continues to speak against some popular Christian leaders in the country, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Naija News reports that Kuti, who is the youngest son of late Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, spoke during an appearance on Morayo Afolabi-Brown’s television programme aired on Tuesday.

During the discussion, the host raised concerns about his frequent public attacks on senior pastors, especially Pastor Adeboye, who is widely respected and often called Daddy GO by church members.

The presenter said that many Nigerians believe strongly in the pastor’s prayers and spiritual role and suggested that Kuti should allow religious leaders to operate without interference.

In response, Kuti maintained that religious leaders cannot expect to be free from public reaction when their influence goes beyond their churches and affects the wider society.

He argued that once faith leaders involve people who do not share their beliefs, criticism becomes unavoidable.

He further explained that problems arise when churches move from personal worship to shaping public life without offering real solutions to social challenges.

According to him, religious institutions should focus more on practical help rather than only spiritual declarations, especially when people approach them with serious life problems.

The conversation became tense when the host admitted that Kuti’s earlier remarks about Pastor Adeboye had upset her personally.

Kuti responded by saying that change was needed rather than silence.

When asked whether his views were based on personal experience within the church, Kuti said physical presence was not necessary to assess the situation.

He argued that churches should invest more in welfare systems, such as free hospitals and maternity services, since members already give money regularly through offerings and donations.
