According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, March 14, 2016, hundreds of youths from Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State staged a protest on Saturday, shutting down the Oweto–Otukpo highway near Oweto Bridge to demand urgent action over the persistent killings of their people by suspected armed herders.
Organized by the Agatu West Peace and Unity Forum, the demonstrators blocked the busy route for several hours, causing major traffic congestion and drawing attention to the escalating insecurity in the region.
The protesters carried placards with messages such as “Stop Agatu killings now” and “Save Agatu now,” appealing to both the Federal and Benue State governments to intervene and restore peace.
Mr. Ebi Lucky, National Youth President of the Forum, said repeated attacks had forced residents of several communities to abandon their ancestral homes. See More/Details
