Terrorists have attacked Unguwar Daudu community in Dukke Ward of Funtua Local Government Area, Katsina State, injuring two residents and abducting no fewer than 20 others.
SaharaReporters gathered that the attack occurred on Sunday night, January 4, 2026, when heavily armed assailants invaded the rural community.
A Katsina-based security expert, Malam Bakatsine on Monday confirmed the incident, noting that the attack took place despite several peace agreements recently brokered between local authorities and armed groups operating in the area.
Funtua is one of several local governments in Katsina that have suffered repeated attacks by armed groups, with residents often bearing the brunt of kidnappings, killings, and displacement.
SaharaReporters previously reported that bandits had killed two people and injured six others following an early morning attack on Naino village in Naalma Ward of Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
According to security sources, the attackers stormed the village at about 6:30 a.m. on January 1, entering from the direction of Musawa.
The bandits reportedly fired sporadically, causing panic among residents and leaving at least eight people with gunshot wounds.
Joint security forces were immediately deployed to the area after the attack, while the injured victims were evacuated to Malumfashi General Hospital for medical treatment, according to security intelligence expert Zagazola Makama.
Hospital sources confirmed that two of the victims, identified as Kamala Lawal, 35, and Tijjani Umaru, 35, were pronounced dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
The remaining six victims were taken to the hospital, the report said.
In response to the incident, security operatives reportedly established blockades along suspected escape routes used by the attackers. Cordon-and-search operations were also launched in surrounding areas to track down and apprehend those responsible.
