Senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute, Gordon Chang, has alleged that Iran deployed Chinese-made weapons in a recent strike targeting a U.S. naval asset, raising fresh concerns about Beijing’s potential role in the ongoing conflict.
Speaking during an interview on Fox Business on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Chang claimed that the missiles used in an attack on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln were supplied by China.
“The supersonic missiles that Iran fired at the USS Abraham Lincoln, those are Chinese missiles,” Chang said.
He argued that the use of such advanced weaponry points to a deeper level of military cooperation between Beijing and Tehran than is publicly acknowledged. According to him, Iran’s access to these systems suggests external support that could enhance its ability to challenge U.S. forces in the region.
