According to Channels Television, Senator Sani Musa has condemned the recent deadly attacks in parts of Niger State, describing the violence as both tragic and difficult to predict due to the unconventional tactics employed by armed groups.
Speaking in the aftermath of the assault on communities in Shiroro Local Government Area, the senator expressed concern over the persistent insecurity despite ongoing government efforts. “This is very unfortunate because all the efforts of government — every time — the government has been taking the issue of security very seriously,” Musa said.
The attack which reportedly claimed dozens of lives including security personnel and local vigilantes, has once again highlighted the challenges authorities face in tackling armed groups operating in rural areas. Residents have repeatedly called for stronger and more sustained security measures to prevent recurring incidents.
Musa emphasized that one of the key difficulties in addressing the crisis lies in the unpredictable nature of the attackers. “And these guys, you know, it’s not a conventional kind of warfare. Unexpectedly, they regroup and then attack innocent people,” he explained.
His remarks reveals the evolving tactics of such groups, which often avoid direct confrontation and instead rely on surprise attacks, making it harder for security forces to respond effectively.
While the senator acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, his comments also point to ongoing efforts by the government to address insecurity. However, the repeated attacks have raised questions about the effectiveness of current measures and the need for new approaches.
